Have you always wanted to try free motion machine embroidery but have been frightened off by those fabulous examples in books and magazines? This class will get you started on a new creative adventure, with a focus on basic fundamental skills for students new to free motion techniques. Sewing machine embroidery can put your unique mark of creativity on almost anything you make – quilts, clothing, table linens, towels, hats, totes, and many other items. It’s fun, creative, easy, and faster than hand embroidery. With practice and a well-tuned sewing machine, you will be free to create a wide variety of decorative effects through the use of color, texture, and shape. Bring your sewing machine, in good working condition, along with your favorite sewing thread. Previous sewing experience required.

Instructor Bio:
Steve Pauling has had a life-long interest and passion for collecting, fixing, refurbishing, and using sewing machines. He began servicing and repairing machines about 15 years ago. His technical knowledge of sewing machines and mastery of tailoring skills have provided him with a unique understanding and perspective for teaching others. Pauling has taught classes in machine use and maintenance, as well as in the fine art of tailoring across the Twin Cities and at Textile Center. bobbinhousestudio.com

Withdrawal Policy
If you need to withdraw from class and you send a withdrawal request at least 5 business days before the start of your workshop, you may receive a refund (minus a $25 processing fee). Alternatively, you may transfer your full tuition to another currently listed class or convert your full tuition into a tax-deductible donation to Textile Center.
We are unable to provide a refund or make a tuition transfer if your notice of withdrawal is received less than 5 business days before the start of your workshop, except in the case of illness or health risk (please see COVID-19 tuition transfer policy here). In this case, your tuition can be converted to a tax-deductible donation to Textile Center. We will be happy to provide you with a receipt for your donation if you request one.
