Learn the art of fine shirt making from a prize winning fine shirt maker! Learn to create a classic dress shirt made with the traditional and best construction methods used by fine tailors around the world. Work with a typical shirt pattern and elevate the construction techniques to the highest level. Experiment with techniques not found in consumer patterns – techniques that are found only in the most expensive custom-made dress shirts. Elevate your garment construction skills, which can be applied in the future to other garments.
This is an intensive 6-section class with additional work required outside of each class to complete a fine shirt. Students must use an appropriate instructor-approved pattern, which we will alter for fine tailoring techniques. This is an intermediate to advanced-level sewing class open to sewists who have experience working with and successfully creating garments from commercial patterns.

Instructor Bio:
Steve Pauling has had a life-long interest and passion for collecting, fixing, refurbishing, and using sewing machines. He began servicing and repairing machines about 15 years ago. His technical knowledge of sewing machines and mastery of tailoring skills have provided him with a unique understanding and perspective for teaching others. Pauling has taught classes in machine use and maintenance, as well as in the fine art of tailoring across the Twin Cities and at Textile Center. bobbinhousestudio.com
