Eileen Doughty
ShopEileen Doughty (Vienna, Virginia) creates work that explores and celebrates what makes fiber art so unique: texture, freedom of shape of the “canvas,” and the opportunity to work in three dimensions. Her favorite medium is “thread sculpture”, which she creates with free-motion machine stitching (being very careful not to stitch a finger!). She thinks of it as drawing a picture by holding the pencil still and moving the paper; or that the needle is her brush and threads are her paint. She has a vast collection of threads in her “paintbox” in many colors and fiber types.
Eileen’s work has appeared in a past Textile Center exhibition: We Are the Story, Racism: In the Face of Hate We Resist.
