Shannon Westrum
Draw inspiration from nature to create a driftwood handle basket from start to finish. Using a pre-formed rattan rim hoop with a foraged driftwood handle, learn the process for creating and adding ribs to weave and shape the side frames of your basket. You’ll work with both round reed or flat rattan and explore how to add accents of dyed reed or local grasses. Leave with a finished basket of approximately 9″ x 7″ x 7″ with a driftwood handle of approximately 7-9″. All levels welcome. Students must have good hand/finger dexterity.
$40 materials fee, payable to the instructor at the start of class, includes pre-drilled driftwood with frames, all rattan, and a list of useful resources and vendors. Instructor will bring all necessary tools and equipment.
