Sandra Brick
Do you know how to thread a needle and do a basic running stitch? Are you excited to embellish clothing or fabric with your own stitched designs? This is the class for you! Be inspired by the Japanese art of sashiko stitching and create works of art and fashion stitched with free form patterns and designs. Learn how to use stencils and various marking materials to design and create patterned backgrounds, and then transfer those patterns to a beloved item to add color and beauty. Bring your own garment or another fabric piece from home to class. Explore design options and learn techniques for how to transfer your ideas onto fabric. This is a mixed level class open to beginning students as well as those who are already familiar with sashiko-inspired stitching.
Materials fee is $20, payable to instructor at the start of class, and includes needle, threads, tracing paper, transfer interface and other transferring implements, as well as handout.
