Craft Night: Shared Pieces

Thursday, Jan 23

Textile Center

$15.00

Thursday, January 23, 5:30 – 7 pm

How would you describe yourself? What colors best communicate your personality? What brings you joy? What’s important to you? Visualize your responses to these questions by creating a fabric square as part of Textile Center’s Community Patchwork Project, Shared Pieces!

Learn how to transfer a photographic image onto fabric and then embellish it with color, pattern, and stitches to create a quilt square that represents you!

This special Craft Night has an option to join for free because participants are invited to donate their self-reflection square to Textile Center to our Shared Pieces community project. The actual cost to run this Craft Night is $15 per person. Participants are welcome to join this Craft Night at either tuition level.

For the photo transfer technique, participants are invited to print out their own photograph or image and bring it to Craft Night. Alternatively, participants may send a single photograph or image to Textile Center for us to print out for you. High contrast photos or images work best. NOTE: the image transfer process reverses the image onto fabric, so please keep this in mind if using text (e.g. all transfer images will be a mirror image of the original). If sending a photograph to Textile Center, upload your file here. All photos sent to Textile Center will be printed as a black and white image.

We welcome everyone, whether you are donating your self-reflection square or not, to join us for the grand reveal of the Shared Pieces patchwork installation during our Fiber Art for All Open House on Saturday, Feb 22, from 10 am – 4 pm.
