Learn the method of transfer printing with acid dyes, carrier clothes, fabric blankets, mordants, and various leaves to render amazing botanical prints on silk scarves. Students create intricate designs with beautiful bold colors and fun techniques. Use leaves from the area and eucalyptus to make botanical eco prints, and go home with 4 silk scarves measuring 9″ x 72″. Students are encouraged to bring their own leaves to experiment with in class. Great for beginners! Materials fee $60, payable to instructor.

Instructor Bio:

Robbin Firth is an acclaimed fiber artist and educator. She is known regionally, nationally, and internationally for her original collection of fine felt, dyed wearables, and decorative fiber art. Firth’s felt art has appeared in numerous publications in the US and abroad. She regularly teaches workshops in felting and dyeing at Textile Center and her studio. Firth and her husband Harry, a wood artist, are the wife and husband of the HeartFelt Silks team. HeartFelt Silks Studio includes a retail, gallery and teaching space and is located in Bayport, Minnesota. They are the inventors of the unique hand-crafted Patented Palm Washboard felt making tools.
